Dufour is a competitive power forward who loves to get involved in physical play and puts effort in on the forecheck. He has a very powerful stride that helps him move up with the ice with great acceleration and speed. This allows him to move quickly through neutral zone and arrive first on loose pucks. He is not the most mobile attacker, but his speed is above average. Praising a dump and chase style of play, he can recover pucks in corners with ease thanks to his strength and competitive nature. He works harder than anybody and can outmuscle even the toughest defender, which makes him a force along the boards. He displays great puck protection as well. He loves to crash the net and get on rebounds around the crease. He possesses an extremely powerful wrist shot, which when accurate, gives the goaltender no chance at all. His release is slick for someone his size, which allows him to get his shot off despite excellent stick-work from defenders. He loves to use his heavy slap shot on the power play. His playmaking abilities are decent, and although he does not create multiple scoring opportunities on the offensive end, he possesses an impressive first pass and some excellent all-around passing abilities. He moves the play quickly and with accuracy, displaying great passing skills on the breakout and on stretch passes. He plays a good defensive game, getting on the backcheck and helping his defenseman down low. His play defensively speaks more about his overall compete level and physicality.
