FCHockey releases Final ranking for 2021 NHL Draft

An offensive threat with the puck on his stick, Pettersson is capable of creating for himself or for others. He has a deadly shot, a quick release with pinpoint accuracy that can challenge goalies at any level. He has high offensive IQ and processes the game quickly, identifying passing lanes or lanes that he can attack with the puck. Decent straight-line speed but won’t blow by defending players, and he struggles with his edgework and lateral movement making it difficult for him to change direction and he can be exploited by attacking players because of his slow footwork. A smaller player, he has good physical strength and can use his frame to protect the puck and to help him in 50/50 battles but adding some strength should be a priority for him to help him as he progresses to the next level in Sweden. As a 19-year-old he’s older than most of the players available in this draft, but he does have the offensive instincts and puck skills that should put him the NHL’s radar. While his age and other flaws will cause him to slide down to the end of the draft, any team that drafts him will be getting a player that has the potential to carve out a role in the NHL because of his effectiveness with the puck.
