November Notebook – Tessler

Desnoyers is a smart and competitive two-way forward who plays a versatile game with acute attention to details. He possesses a smooth stride, a decent top speed and an above average acceleration, which makes him a reliable attacker in transition. His quickness and overall mobility also help him on the cycle, as he moves around with ease. He showcases excellent decision-making in all three zones, moving the puck quickly and utilizing his teammates very well. He’s aware of his surroundings, which opens the play and keeps the puck circulating at a good pace. He is a very generous passer and rarely holds the puck for too long, showcasing versatile passing abilities in both ends. His positioning is tremendous, as he gets into open spots with dexterity and arrives on loose pucks first thanks to his excellent hockey senses. He finishes plays around the crease thanks to his great scoring drive and scoring touch. His release his quick and his wrist shot is accurate, a lethal combo. He isn’t scared to get into physical battles, playing with energy in the dirty areas and putting full effort in the corners. He shows a high intensity on the puck pursuit, which creates turnovers. Although not the flashiest attacker, he has decent puck skills that allow him to work in tight spaces while maintaining control of the puck. He is responsible in all three zones and willing to drop to his knees in his own end to block a shot.  Overall, he has potential to be an all-around player.
